West Ham suffered another painful night as they were defeated 3-2 by Wolves in the Carabao Cup.
The Hammers snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at Molineux on Tuesday, with a rapid-fire brace from Jorgen Strand Larsen changing the complexion of the tie in the latter stages.
West Ham produced yet another poor performance, which will only serve to heap more pressure on Graham Potter as he fights to keep his job.
Strong displays were few and far between within the visitors’ ranks, but one player in particular has been singled out for praise.

Stuart Pearce praises ‘brilliant’ Tomas Soucek in loss vs Wolves
Tomas Soucek’s future at West Ham has been uncertain in recent days, with his former boss David Moyes trying to take the midfielder to Everton.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
The Hammers have received an approach from the Merseysiders for the Czech international, and they have made it perfectly clear that they have no intention of selling the star.
The 30-year-old drew his side level shortly after half-time at Molineux, as he headed home a cross from Kyle Walker-Peters at the back post.
Soucek showcased his ability to burst into the box to great effect yet again, and he highlighted why the East Londoners are so keen to keep him within their ranks beyond the end of the transfer window.
Soucek has now made over 240 appearances for West Ham
He has also notched over 40 goals from midfield in that time
He has undoubtedly been one of their finest signings of the modern era
Despite some poor performances elsewhere in the side, ex-Irons star Stuart Pearce heaped praise on the midfielder on talkSPORT (26 August, 8:40pm) after he found the back of the net.
“It is classic Soucek,” Pearce said.
“People write him off, and they have done so for many a year and even at West Ham on occasion. He’s worth his weight in gold; he’s a brilliant professional to work with.
“He’s absolutely top quality, and you know that when the ball goes into both boxes, it’s him that normally gets his head on it.”

West Ham cannot lose Tomas Soucek right now
Soucek’s value to West Ham at the moment arguably goes beyond any sort of money that could be put on the table.
The former Slavia Prague star has put in over five years of excellent service for the E20 outfit, and in their current state, it is players like him that they will need to rely on.
He undoubtedly has his limitations as a player, but you can guarantee that he will never let a manager down, and that will be invaluable to Potter at the moment.
The clock is rapidly ticking down on the 50-year-old, and the only way that he could potentially claw back his reputation is by ensuring that the senior players within his ranks, like Soucek, rally around him and pull the squad together.
If West Ham do opt to try and cash in on the midfielder, then it perhaps the most damning indication of all as to the level of faith that the hierarchy have in Potter.
