West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has apologised after he had to be held back by teammates during an altercation with a fan after his side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Hammers suffered a 3-2 defeat away at Molineux after squandering a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes on the clock. Jorgen Strand Larsen struck twice late on to pour more misery on Graham Potter's beleaguered side.
Bowen gave an honest assessment of the East Londoners' issues following their 5-1 defeat to Chelsea on Friday. But he was visibly infuriated during a verbal exchange after the final whistle against Wolves.

Bowen and the rest of his West Ham teammates headed over to the visiting fans to applaud them for their support. But one supporter riled up the English winger, and Tomas Soucek, Alphonso Areola and the stewards were forced to keep him from heading into the stands.
The 28-year-old has since apologised for his actions and explained that it was because of his passionate personality. He wrote on Instagram: "Apologies to the fans for tonight's reaction. I'm someone who is passionate and will fight every time I step on the pitch. But I need to set a better example and you fans know how much I love you and this club! We ride through the bad times together and I'll see you Sunday."
You can watch the incident below:
Bowen had set Lucas Paqueta up to make it 2-1 in the 63rd minute before Larsen's brace (82' and 84'). This came after Rodrigo Gomes gave Wolves the lead (43') before Soucek equalised (50').
It means West Ham won't be in the third round of the Carabao Cup and a woeful start to the season continues. His men have lost all three of their games, including a season-opening 3-0 loss away to Premier League newcomers Sunderland.
Next up for the Irons is a visit to the City Ground to face high-flying Nottingham Forest on Sunday (August 31). Bowen will be eager to help turn things around as the pressure is growing over Potter just eight months into his reign.
