Napoli have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United for the signing of Rasmus Hojlund on loan with a conditional buy obligation.
According to Gazzetta, Napoli and Manchester United are inching closer to the transfer of 22-year-old prospect Rasmus Hojlund. The Serie A champions have reportedly reached an agreement with the Red Devils over a loan deal with conditional clauses that could lead to a buy obligation worth €45 million, as the Naples side are aiming to close the deal by Wednesday.
Rasmus Hojlund was reportedly told to find a new solution to his career by Manchester United once they finalised a deal for Benjamin Sesko. The Danish forward has not featured in any of their opening two league games, despite comments earlier in the summer that stated he would be happy to stay and fight for his place.
There have been clubs keen to sign the striker, with AC Milan making a concerted effort to bring the striker. However, there had been some reluctance on the 22-year-old prospect’s part to join the Rossoneri, although he has been more receptive to Napoli’s interest.
Antonio Conte’s side entered the race for the 22-year-old prospect after Romelu Lukaku suffered a serious injury that may keep him out of action at least until January. Napoli had leaned towards a loan-to-buy deal, and it appears they have found an agreement to bring Hojlund to Naples.
Napoli had advanced in talks with Manchester United for the striker, and it would be on a loan with conditions that could lead to a buy obligation. Those are around certain stipulations such as appearances, goals and more importantly, Champions League qualification. Napoli ideally would like to pay for the transfer with Champions League money next summer, with the total cost of the deal coming to €45 million, including loan fees.
Napoli wants to wrap up the Rasmus Hojlund signing soon
Hojlund is open to joining Napoli, and more importantly, the striker reportedly pushed towards having a more permanent solution, which probably resulted in the buy obligation conditions. Napoli have already earmarked Wednesday as the day they want to close the deal, as per Alfredo Pedulla.
The move for Napoli will also mark their eighth summer signing since winning the league last season. The club are also angling for a few more signings before the transfer window shuts, but the Hojlund signing will be a top acquisition given the circumstances with Lukaku and the options available in the window.
