For a third consecutive year, former Eastern Michigan standout Dylan Drummond is a training camp cut.
The Atlanta Falcons finalized their 53-man roster ahead of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. league deadline, and Drummond was among those waived. It’s a familiar position for the wide receiver.
After last year’s camp, the Falcons released Drummond before re-signing him to the practice squad — a possible outcome again this season.
Drummond, who also spent time with the New York Giants, began his NFL career in 2023 with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent. He showed flashes with sure hands and reliable route running but couldn’t crack a crowded receiver group.
The Lions waived him before adding him to its practice squad, where he remained until a Week 5 call-up against the Carolina Panthers. In that 42-24 win, he logged four offensive snaps and three on special teams.
The Lions released Drummond on Nov. 29, and the Giants signed him the next day.
In Atlanta’s preseason opener this year against Detroit, Drummond delivered one of his more notable performances. Before the game was suspended due to Morice Norris’ injury, he had eight catches for 63 yards, consistently finding space against the Lions’ secondary.
