Chelsea ‘evaluating possibility of a move’ for Barcelona winger Fermín López — reports

Apparently we don’t have enough to do here in the final few days of the summer transfer window, with a large number of players still needing their futures resolved one way or another, so we’ve decided to spend some time “evaluating the possibility” of a move for Fermín López, according to multiple reports today.

The 22-year-old winger may or may not be unsettled at Barcelona, and thus Chelsea (and others) are poking around to see if anything bleeds. He did sign a new long-term contract just last year and has made 88 appearances in the last two seasons for the club, scoring 19 goals in all competitions.

To be clear, and despite the solid sourcing, there’s not much to this story, certainly not at the moment. As The Athletic, the BBC, and Fabrizio Romano all point out, there’s been absolutely no contact between Chelsea and Barcelona over this (or any other) deal, and we’re simply sounding out the player’s agents to see what the lay of the land may be. Stuff like this happens all the time behind the scenes and usually it does not make for major headlines.

I guess we’re all just bored and farming for content. Open wide for some content!

(Also, the situations around Xavi Simons, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Alejandro Garnacho, etc. remain unchanged.)
