The Seattle Seahawks are trading second-year offensive tackle Michael Jerrell to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a conditional 2027 seventh-round draft pick, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Tuesday morning.
Seahawks Roster Tracker: Keep up on cuts down to 53
The report comes just hours ahead of the NFL’s 53-man roster cutdown deadline of 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Jerrell was a 2024 sixth-round draft pick out of little-known University of Findlay, a Division II school in Ohio. Due to a slew of injuries, Jerrell filled in to make three starts at right tackle for Seattle last season. His first career start came in a Week 7 road win over the Falcons.
Jerrell played 250 offensive snaps last year – 245 at right tackle and five at left tackle. He posted a 46.4 Pro Football Focus grade, which ranked 82nd out of 86 NFL offensive tackles who played at least 250 snaps.
The 6-foot-5, 309-pound Jerrell appeared to be in the mix for a backup tackle spot with Seattle this season. He posted a 64.8 PFF grade over three preseason games, which ranked eighth out of 13 Seahawks offensive linemen. He allowed no pressures through the first two preseason games, but surrendered a sack and a quarterback hurry in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers, according to PFF.
The Falcons lost starting right tackle Kaleb McGary, a UW Huskies product and native of Fife, Wash., to a lower left leg injury last week.
