Green Bay Packers: Former Fan-Favorite CB Rasul Douglas Finally Finds New Team for 2025 NFL…

The Green Bay Packers released their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday afternoon. Per NFL rules, all teams must trim their 90-man rosters down to 53 at the conclusion of the preseason. There were numerous surprises on Green Bay’s initial 53-man roster, including their decision to keep six cornerbacks, including former wide receiver Bo Melton.

In addition to Melton, the Packers kept Nate Hobbs, Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Kamal Hadden, and Micah Robinson.

This is a very different cornerback room than the one Green Bay had last year, one that feature former first round picks Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, who now play for the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders respectively. Corey Ballentine, who signed with the Indianapolis Colts in free agency before being released and re-signed by the Packers, did not make the roster.

Throughout the offseason and training camp, many fans expressed concern about the cornerback position and hoped that the team might bring back Rasul Douglas to add some veteran leadership. However, he has finally found a new team after spending the entire offseason as a free agent.

Douglas initially joined the Packers when Green Bay plucked him off of the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals back in 2021 when their cornerback depth took a hit due to multiple injuries.

He was an immediate success in his first season with the Packers, notching five interceptions in 12 games, including two that he returned for touchdowns.

All told, Douglas spent parts of three seasons with the Packers, recording 10 interceptions and 32 passes defended in that time. Midway through the 2023 season, though, Green Bay traded him to the Buffalo Bills for a third round pick, which they used on Ty’Ron Hopper in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Douglas played 15 games for the Bills in 2024, but opposing quarterbacks had a 122.0 passer rating when targeting him. Once he hit free agency, it appeared that he did not have a big market as he went unsigned until today.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Douglas signed a one-year $3 million deal with the Miami Dolphins:

Obviously, Douglas has already been included on Miami’s initial 53-man roster, but will go into the season without having taken part in any training camp or preseason games.

It will be interesting to see how much and how well he will play, especially early in the regular season, after not having the benefit of an offseason program.
