5 Things to Know About New Chargers OL Austin Deculus

3. Playing experience

Deculus does have some in-game experience in the NFL — in both the regular season and postseason.

He's played in a total of 13 regular season games, all with the Texans, and started one of them as he's played both offense and special teams.

The tackle also saw action with the Texans in the postseason last year, playing in both of their games.

4. Storied LSU career

Deculus went down in the record books at LSU.

The tackle appeared in more games than any player in school history with 61, as he spent five total years with the Tigers.

He was a starter in four of them, becoming the only player in program history to play at least 60 games.

He ended his collegiate career with 46 starts, all at right tackle, and was a starter for the 2019 National Championship team.

5. Depth at tackle

This move now gives the Bolts some more depth at tackle following the roster cutdown deadline.

After losing Rashawn Slater for the season due to injury, Deculus now brings experience along the line and could be an option at swing tackle.

Deculus has played primarily at left tackle in his NFL career, including this past preseason, but does have experience at right tackle in previous years.
