Permanent or loan? George holds 'positive talks' over Chelsea exit

Roma have reportedly held 'positive talks' over a move for Chelsea attacker Tyrique George.

The Giallorossi are looking to add to Gian Piero Gasperini's attacking options before the end of the summer transfer window.

Roma were previously keen to finalise a deal to bring Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho to the Stadio Olimpico.

However, that move fell through after **Sancho ultimately decided agains**t the opportunity to join the Serie A club.

Roma hold positive George talks

As a result, Roma appear to have turned their focus to signing another English attacker in the form of Chelsea's George.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian club held 'positive talks' with the player's representatives in a meeting in London on Tuesday.

The update claims that Chelsea are willing to allow George on a permanent deal despite him being under contract until June 2027, with an option for a further 12 months.

However, Chelsea are looking to include a 'heavy' sell-on clause, with the two clubs in discussions to finalise a transfer.

Why is George set to leave Chelsea?

The Chelsea academy product enjoyed a breakout season last term, contributing three goals and five assists in 26 competitive appearances.

However, George appears to have fallen down the pecking order in Enzo Maresca's squad following the summer arrivals of Jamie Gittens and Estevao.

As a result, the 19-year-old had to settle for being an unused substitute for the opening Premier League game against Crystal Palace, before he was left out of the squad altogether for Friday's 5-1 win over West Ham United.

The Blues are also looking to bring in further attacking reinforcements before the transfer deadline, which will further dent George's chances of enjoying first-team minutes.

The winger seems better off moving to a club that can offer him regular game time, while a switch to Roma will offer him the chance to try a new challenge in another top European league.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will be able to report George's potential sale as pure profit to help meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
