The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves in quite a pickle when it comes to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who recently requested a trade as a result of his dissatisfaction with his lack of a contract extension.
Meyers has just one year remaining on his deal and is slated to earn $10.5 million in base salary this coming season, quite a bargain for a player who totaled 87 catches for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns in 2024.

With Week 1 just a couple of weeks away, this obviously creates a tough situation for the Raiders, who don't want to trade Meyers, but also do not seem eager to sign him to a lucrative long-term deal.
However, Q Myers of the Locked on Raiders doesn't seem to think that Las Vegas will move Meyers unless some very specific circumstances occur.
"The only way I could see a trade happening is if John Spytek and Pete Carroll aren't on the same page," Myers said. "They've been on the same page from what I know since they joined the team together back in January. As far as I'm concerned, they've been in lockstep with each other."
Both Spytek and Carroll are entering their debut campaigns in Vegas, and now, they may be facing their first truly difficult decision as a general manager-head coach tandem.
"The other way I could see a trade happening is if the Raiders get off to a terrible start and right before the trade deadline, they say, 'Yeah, this season is not going the way we thought it was going to go. Let's go ahead and get some good some draft capital in return and continue to try to build that team.'" Myers added.
Myers also noted that the Carroll wants to win now, which is why it makes sense to keep Meyers heading into the season. It's also important to mention that the Raiders' receiving corps is rather barren beyond Meyers in terms of proven talent, so trading him now without a clear answer behind him wouldn't be too wise.
We'll see what Las Vegas decides to do here in the coming days.
