The Raiders cut Greedy Vance Jr., but he is a strong candidate to be placed on Las Vegas's practice squad after a great preseason.
Tuesday August 26 is “Cut Day” for the 2025 NFL season, a day that college football fans across the nation, including USC fans, care greatly about. Essentially, it is the day that every NFL team must finalize their 53-man rosters ahead of the start of the new season. It’s a big day for rookies, fresh out of college.
13 USC football players received NFL opportunities after starring for the Trojans in 2024. Each of those players has been vying to make the team in their rookie season.
Now, the fate of those players has finally been revealed. Here is the roster status of every 2024 rookie out of USC ahead of the 2024 season.
Easton Mascarenas-Arnold Makes The Browns Opening Day Roster
Perhaps the biggest news of the day for Trojan fans, former USC linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold has officially made the Cleveland Browns’ 53-man roster.
Mascarenas-Arnold was signed as an undrafted free agent by Cleveland after leading USC with 95 tackles in 2024. Mascarenas-Arnold also had 5 tackles for loss and tied for the team lead with 2 interceptions.
He faced long odds to make an NFL roster after going undrafted, but has found a home with the Browns.
He is one of five linebackers the Browns have on their opening day roster, including fellow rookie Carson Schwesinger, who Cleveland selected in the second round out of UCLA.
Greedy Vance, John Humphrey Cut By Raiders
Unfortunately, two former USC cornerbacks who both were signed as undrafted free agents by the Las Vegas Raiders did not make the team.
John Humphrey and Greedy Vance were both cut by Las Vegas before they finalized their 53-man roster. Humphrey was cut on Monday August 25, 2025 and Greedy Vance was sent home a day later on Tuesday August 26, 2025.

Vance is reportedly considered a strong candidate to be signed to the Raiders practice squad, however. So there may be hope yet of seeing the former Trojan coached by USC great Pete Carroll.
Vance would also team up with former Trojan Isaiah Pola-Mao in the Las Vegas secondary.
Jamil Muhammad Also Cut, But By Rams
Defensive end Jamil Muhammad, who spent two seasons with the Trojans, was also unfortunately cut, by the hometown Los Angeles Rams.
Per Source the Rams are waiving EDGE rusher Jamil Muhammad.
Assuming he clears waivers, the Rams are bringing him back on the practice squad.

However, like Vance, he is considered a strong candidate to be placed on the Rams practice squad if he makes it through waivers.
Jacobe Covington Cut By Chiefs
Former USC safety Jacobe Covington also fell just short of the 53-man roster. He was placed on waivers Tuesday August 26, 2025 by the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, given that he made it all the way until cutdown day with the Chiefs, he is likely also a candidate to be placed on the practice squad.
Eddie Czaplicki Was Cut Awhile Ago
Unfortunately, being the best punter in all of college football doesn’t necessarily mean you will get an NFL opportunity.
Ray Guy award winner and USC legend Eddie Czaplicki was unfortunately cut by the Chiefs almost a month ago, on Wednesday July 29, 2025.
The Chiefs have a clear punting star in Matt Araiza. They also had to end their punting competition due to injuries in camp.
Czaplicki’s career is far from over though. As long as he stays ready, he could be a popular target on the special teams market.
Every Draft Pick Made The Team
With the announcement that OL Jonah Monheim made the Jacksonville Jaguars, USC fans can now celebrate that all three of their 2025 draft picks made the team.
Monheim had an excellent preseason, and many Jaguars fans are already calling him a steal.
Meanwhile, RB Woody Marks is a candidate to start for the Houston Texans after starter Joe Mixon went down with injury. In other news, the whole Texans secondary is a fan of Jaylin Smith.
Marks and Smith will team up with former Trojan star Calen Bullock in Houston.
No Luck For Rookie Minicamp Players
In the wake of the NFL draft, USC announced that four other players: WR Kyle Ford, DL Gavin Meyer, K Michael Lantz and S Bryson Shaw had been invited to different rookie minicamps.
Unfortunately, none of those players made it past the rookie minicamps they were invited to.
So there you have it. Four former Trojans including one undrafted free agent made their respective 53-man rosters. At least two others are highly likely practice squad candidates.
USC fans, which former Trojan turned NFL rookie are you keeping the closest eye on during the 2025 season?
