3 Alaskans cut from NFL rosters, waived from respective teams ahead of Week 1

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Three Alaskan players missed the final 53-man rosters of their respective NFL teams after cuts were made Tuesday.

Defensive tackle Brandon Pili (Seattle Seahawks), offensive lineman Aiden Williams (Pittsburgh Steelers) and linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio (Buffalo Bills) were cut from their respective teams after spending training camp and the preseason aiming to make the roster heading into the start of the season next week.

Brandon Pili, of Dimond High School fame, missed Seattle’s final preseason game with an undisclosed injury. The 6-foot-3, 334-pound nose tackle [recorded a safety](https://www.alaskasnewssource.com/2025/08/19/alaskas-brandon-pili-records-safety-seahawks-preseason-win-over-chiefs/) in Seattle’s 33-16 Week 2 preseason win over Kansas City, coming up with one of the biggest plays of his professional career while competing for a roster spot.

Pili, 26, spent the first two seasons of his career with Miami after going undrafted out of USC in 2023, recording four tackles in 12 appearances.

Aiden Williams, a 2019 East Anchorage graduate, had a strong start to the preseason, playing 54 snaps in week 1, when he was the highest graded lineman on the Steelers.

Undrafted out of Division II’s Minnesota Duluth, Williams signed a deal with Pittsburgh in April before competing for a spot during training camp and preseason.

The 6-foot-5 314-pound guard missed the final two games of the preseason with a knee injury as the 24-year-old hopes to sign as practice squad player with a team of interest.

Edefuan Ulofoshio, a former South Anchorage Wolverine, was also cut on Tuesday as Buffalo dwindled down their roster to 53 players.

The 6-1, 239-pound linebacker was drafted in the 5th round, 160th overall by Buffalo in the 2024 draft, recording six tackles in four appearances his rookie season, primarily on special teams.

Players who are cut and have less than four years of NFL experience are subject to waivers. Teams have until Wednesday at 8 a.m. AKDT to put in claims. If a player clears waivers, they become a free agent and can sign with any team interested, including to the practice squad of the team that they were waived from.

Note: One player with Alaska ties to make an NFL roster is Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson, who was born in Anchorage. His mother, Tiffany Weatherton, is a former track star at Dimond High School. When Wilson was two, his family moved to Texas, eventually playing for Texas Tech University and was selected seventh overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has recorded 52 total tackles and eight sacks in two seasons with the Raiders.
