Kobbie Mainoo has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid
The summer transfer window is quickly approaching its end, with looking to finalise any last-minute deals, whether incoming or outgoing.
Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho are yet to seal moves away from Old Trafford after informing the club of their desire to explore their options. Garnacho is keen on a move to as negotiations are ongoing between clubs while .
In terms of incomings, it has been an active window for the United hierarchy, with Benjamin Sesko becoming the fourth new arrival. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon also bolstered squad.
Heading into the final days of the window, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at the latest headlines.
Lammens 'hope'
The Reds are hopeful that a move for Senne Lammens can be struck before the transfer deadline next week. suggest that personal terms for Lammens are yet to be finalised, with his representatives in England this week to discuss a potential deal.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper is believed to be valued between €25m-€30million (£22m-£26m).
MEN Sport says: This latest development will be seen as an encouraging step forward, with both parties working to get the deal over the line. However, it inevitably raises questions about the futures of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, given the increased competition it could bring to United’s goalkeeping department.
has stressed, though, that the situation should not be interpreted as a signal that Onana is set to leave. But whether Bayindir departs in the final days of the window is also uncertain.
Mainoo eyed by Real Madrid
have reported that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are keeping a close eye on Kobbie Mainoo's situation. Both Spanish giants are said to be considering a season-long loan move, while several clubs are also monitoring the 20-year-old midfielder.
Mainoo has yet to feature for United's this season, but it's said that it remains unlikely that the club would sanction a loan deal for a player they have no intention of selling.
MEN Sport says: If United were to sell, Mainoo would represent pure profit and at just 20-years-old, he is regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects. That said, his development depends heavily on regular game time.
A player of Mainoo's ability and potential deserves to be playing consistently, whether at United or elsewhere. Keeping him on the sidelines risks stalling his progress and could ultimately damage both the player's trajectory and the club's long-term plans.
