Arsenal’s Premier League title credentials will face a big test when they come up against Liverpool next weekend.
After two games played, Mikel Arteta’s side are two from two, and fortunately for Arsenal, so is their new striker, Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres impressed Eberechi Eze who was watching on from the stands as Arsenal put five past Leeds United last weekend.
And following injuries to both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka in the same match, Eze might even find himself starting against Liverpool.
Eze is happy to play any position for Arsenal, and there might be a left wing role primed for the former Crystal Palace maverick.
Danny Simpson says Gabriel Martinelli has finally got the Arsenal help he needed
That being said, Premier League winner Danny Simpson has now discussed Arsenal’s situation on the ‘Beyond The Back Four’ podcast.
And in doing so, Simpson seemingly admitted that he didn’t think Arsenal could win the title if Gabriel Martinelli was starting every week.

The former Leicester City man seemed buoyed by both Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze’s arrival, and whilst Simpson confessed that he was a big Martinelli fan, he clearly thought the Brazilian needed more help.
Simpson said: “When those players come in it can raise your game. I think that’s what Arsenal have missed – Madueke coming off the bench, obviously Havertz is injured now, but coming off the bench, Martinelli having a bit of competition.
“I’ve been saying the last two years, I love him as a player, he’s direct, Martinelli, but I just didn’t think they would win the league with just him out there.
“Now obviously Eze – top, top, top player.”
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will be crucial to Arsenal’s title chances
In addition to those comments, Simpson also took the chance to praise Arsenal’s back line, and he admitted that he thought William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes were the best pairing in the league.
Simpson continued: “For me, I think Saliba and Gabriel – if those two stay fit the whole season… when one of them’s missing, they don’t look right. And I think those two, I think they’re the best centre-back pairing in the league.
“I think if those two stay fit, and you’ve got all these attacking players now that can score you goals at any moment, I think they’re going to be right up there.
“I think this is the time that he has to win a league this year for me, you’ve spent all that money now, but keeping those two fit with David Raya behind them I think is key.”
Of course, Arsenal are interested in signing Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen to add to their already impressive back line.
And even if Saliba or Gabriel pick up an injury, Arsenal should be well positioned to cope owing to their impressive recruitment, given that Cristhian Mosquera has already arrived.
