Kobbie Mainoo says Man Utd signed a 'really powerful' player this summer, 'He's definitely...'

Manchester United will be delighted with the summer arrivals so far completed, with all impressing in their first months at the club.

It has been a very long summer for Manchester United which saw signing number one on June 1st, and another deal or two anticipated in advance of Monday’s deadline.

United have spent over £200m, at the time of writing, which so far looks like good value.

Matheus Cunha has been an instant hit at Old Trafford with moments of absolute brilliance yet to result in a goal, but it feels inevitable.

Bryan Mbeumo has also impressed, albeit yet to find his feet, the right sided forward has shown glimpses of his ability as he works himself to 100%.

Additionally, while Benjamin Sesko has barely racked up 45 minutes worth of action, there have been small signs in his touches and hold up play which could be top class once he settles in.

Kobbie Mainoo raves about Manchester United talent Diego Leon

The least expensive first team signing for United this summer is Diego Leon, with the Paraguayan teenager making the move from Cerro Porteno.

Leon impressed Amorim with his training and while on tour in the USA, the 18-year-old got an assist while demonstrating his powerful dribbling.

It has been reported that Leon is a really popular player at United, with his teammates all taking to him well, and now they have been discussing their verdicts on the wonderkid.

Speaking to club media, Kobbie Mainoo was one of several to praise Leon when asked to give his first impressions of his new teammate.

“I like Diego. Diego’s again, another top player, really powerful, really strong and although he doesn’t speak much English, he’s a funny guy as well, so he’s definitely a good addition to the team.”

Mainoo wasn’t alone in this, as several of United’s senior players shared what they think of Leon following his first few months at the club.

What Diego Leon’s other United teammates have said about him

Leon has made a good impression on many of his new teammates this summer, which is impressive considering his lack of English which limits the teammates he can converse with on a fluent level.

In the ‘first impressions’ article United put together, there were also several others to praise the teen.

Patrick Dorgu: “He brings a lot of power and energy to the team and he’s very young, so it takes time to join into the team but he’s doing really well.”

Tom Heaton: “He’s been brilliant. The lads have really looked after him. Of course, he’ll gravitate towards the South American lads who have looked after him. He’s quietly gone about his business really well on the grass and then off the grass, he’s been a feature, he’s been in and amongst with the lads, doing well with the language, moving things forward so another top addition to the squad. He’s done fantastically well. He has the potential to get better and better and better. Look forward to seeing him this season and seeing him excel.”

Matthijs de Ligt: “You can see he’s really keen to show his personality on the pitch and that’s really good. The more you get into professional football, the more you have to learn tactics and stuff, and that’s obviously difficult when you’re from a different country and speak a different language. He’s taking it in well, improving day by day, so let’s hope that he keeps improving.”

Ayden Heaven: “He’s great. Obviously there’s a language barrier and all that but he’s a good kid and we help him. You saw in pre-season he picked up an assist as well. He’s strong for his age, he looks exciting.”
