Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven are considering making a late move for Manchester United centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee
Manchester United are anticipating a busy end to the transfer window, with a new goalkeeper and midfielder on the agenda for head coach Ruben Amorim.
The 20-time English champions have shifted been lately working on a deal for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens. As per transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano, they are closing in on the signing of Lammens, whose potential arrival could put Andre Onana’s Old Trafford future into further jeopardy.
Ruben Amorim has already spent big on revamping his forward line. INEOS have splashed huge cash on the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to address his team’s biggest problem from last season, i.e. scoring goals. Manchester United netted just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games, which is a damning indictment of how bad Amorim’s forwards were.
On the outgoings front, the Red Devils are still looking to offload some players in the final week of the summer transfer window. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund are all surplus to requirements under the Portuguese tactician. They are all still expected to leave before the transfer deadline.

PSV Eindhoven eye ambitious swoop for Manchester United forward
The future of Joshua Zirkzee has also been a topic of discussion for the fans following the arrivals of Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko. The Dutchman missed the entire pre-season due to a minor injury, meaning his last minutes in a Man United shirt came in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao in May.
The 24-year-old has been included in the squad in the opening two games, but bizarrely he hasn’t come off the bench to help the team struggling to score a goal. Joshua Zirkzee may be behind the rest of the team after missing the whole pre-season through injury, yet that has not stopped him from attracting interest from European clubs.
According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, PSV Eindhoven are eyeing an ambitious move for Zirkzee before the transfer window slams shut next week. No official approach or offer has been made yet, but their plan is to sign the Netherlands striker in the wake of Alassane Plea’s serious injury.

Ruben Amorim is unlikely to let Zirkzee depart so late in the transfer window
Amorim would want to keep Zirkzee this season
Zirkzee endured a topsy-turvy debut season in England following his move from Bologna, netting just seven times in 49 games across all competitions. After a slow start, the 24-year-old became an Old Trafford favourite due to his technical ability, composure, ball progression and creativity. He has a contract at the club until 2029, although the creative forward’s immediate future under Amorim is far from certain.
Ahead of next summer’s World Cup, the ex-Bayern Munich man is aware of the importance of regular playing time this season. Amorim has publicly insisted that he regards Zirkzee and wants him to be a part of the squad. With Rasmus Hojlund in talks to join Napoli, the United boss would not want the Dutch star to leave and deplete his attacking ranks before the window slams shut.
Should his situation at United fail to improve, the appeal of joining PSV Eindhoven, where Zirkzee would undoubtedly be a key figure, could become difficult to ignore.
