Harvey Elliott could become a Tottenham player before the end of the summer window.

Elliott, 22, has been targeted by Tottenham this summer as a departure from Liverpool looks increasingly likely after weeks of exit links.

This could see the England under-21 international move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and fill the void left by James Maddison’s pre-season injury against Newcastle United.

It is clear that Thomas Frank wants a new signing in this area, especially after Tottenham missed out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last week.

This could see the Lilywhites step up their interest in Elliott as just days remain before the transfer market closes on 1 September.

This story includes exclusive comment from former midfielder Martin Allen.

Tottenham could now sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool

There is no doubt that Spurs are in desperate need of a new number 10, having already missed out on a number of targets to this point.

This has most recently seen Nico Paz from Como linked to Tottenham, despite a deal yet to go through at this stage of the window.

If a swoop for the Argentine continues to be difficult, the Lilywhites could turn their attention to Elliott after a turbulent summer at Anfield.

Despite strong links away from Liverpool, the Englishman has remained in L4, something that could open the door for the Lilywhites to land the attacking midfielder.

With that being said, former Leicester City and Brentford manager Allen has been left unsure why Arne Slot and Co. would let him go, given how useful he could be in North London.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “Liverpool have sold over £200m worth of players this summer, which is quite astonishing.

“Harvey Elliott gets goals coming off the bench, but is he worth £40m? I would say yes.

“He doesn’t help dominate games in possession, but he does score goals and help to win games. A player like that, I think, would be absolutely key for Tottenham.

“*I would question why Liverpool want to sell him because he will be like gold dust in their squad.*“

Harvey Elliott could be better than Eberechi Eze for Tottenham

There is no getting away from the fact that Eze would have been a useful addition for the N17 club this summer, but Spurs have to move on.

0.44 Expected goals 0.36

4.25 Shots 1.00

0.50 Assists 0.28

87.50 Touches 54.90

This could see Elliott be an excellent option as an alternative, given his years of experience and positive record in the Premier League.

Since signing for Liverpool, the versatile attacker has never been a guaranteed starter, something which the Lilywhites could certainly offer this campaign.

This would see him fit in well with Frank and his intense style of play, a deal could entirely depend on the player and his willingness to leave the Premier League champions.
