Wolves fans were last night reminded just how important a player Jorgen Strand Larsen is.
The Norwegian number nine was on target twice for Wolves in their 3-2 comeback win against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.
Jorgen Strand Larsen started on the bench, and came to Wolves’ rescue with the score at 2-1 to the visitors.
He scored twice in two minutes, first turning in brilliantly after Andre’s shot was saved, and then heading in Jackson Tchatchoua’s cross.
At some point last night though, Newcastle United lodged a second bid for Strand Larsen.
On Monday, Newcastle failed with a £50 million bid for Strand Larsen, but it was expected that they would return with a fresh offer.
And last night, they did.

It is a nightmare scenario for Wolves.
Newcastle are offering money here that is more than Strand Larsen’s true value, but given the timing it is inadvisable for Wanderers to sell.
Last night, Wolves rejected a second bid from Newcastle worth £55 million.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
It is possible they are getting closer though, after it was claimed yesterday that Wolves could accept £60 million in total for Strand Larsen.
Word of Newcastle’s latest offer quickly spread last night, and Jan Aage Fjortoft made one worrying claim regarding the striker’s stance.
Bid of £55m rejected, but I have been told that Newcastle will be back again.
Jørgen Strand Larsen has been very clear that he wants this deal to go through.

Strand Larsen exit is feeling more likely
The narrative over Strand Larsen certainly feels different now compared to last week.
Newcastle are clearly determined to sign him, and Wolves are giving the impression that they actually will sell for a bit more money.
The claim that he has made it ‘very clear’ that he wants to play for Newcastle is very concerning.
If that is true then it’s difficult to see him staying. Although he probably wouldn’t agitate for a move, and will continue to be professional, Wolves surely can’t be keeping someone who does want out.
