Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly rejected Newcastle United’s second bid, worth £55 million, for 25-year-old Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Jorgen Strand Larsen is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are desperate to bolster their offensive unit by signing at least one striker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Alexander Isak’s long-term future. So, the 25-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-forward has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.
With moves for other strikers hitting stumbling blocks, the Halden native has become a top target for Newcastle United. However, the 2024/25 EFL Cup have not convinced Wolverhampton Wanderers to part ways with Strand Larsen, despite submitting a second bid worth £55 million. The Black Country outfit will aim to resist all bids for the striker.
Jorgen Strand Larsen and his fruitful Premier League stint so far
Jorgen Strand Larsen has made considerable progress since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Celta Vigo. The Black Country outfit initially signed the 25-year-old on loan last summer before completing a permanent move this summer. The player enjoyed a solid debut season with the Premier League club, and he has contributed to 21 goals in 41 outings thus far for them by finding the back of the net 16 times and providing five assists.
The Norwegian international has been hot off the blocks in the 2025/26 season, scoring a brace in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ come-from-behind 3-2 win over West Ham United in the EFL Cup. Meanwhile, Strand Larsen’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Newcastle United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Newcastle United’s interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen is understandable. The Magpies have been combing the market for a striker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Alexander Isak’s long-term future. The Swedish international is pushing for a summer move to Liverpool, and he has publicly insisted that his chapter with Newcastle United is over.
Several candidates have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar, with Strand Larsen recently becoming a top target. The 2024/25 EFL Cup winners have already failed with their opening bid to sign the former Celta Vigo striker. They have followed that up by presenting a package worth £55 million.
However, the latest bid worth £55 million has not convinced Wolverhampton Wanderers, as they are not ready to part ways with the 25-year-old Norwegian international. With widespread reports suggesting Newcastle United will not break the bank to sign Strand Larsen, a summer move may not be on the cards.
