Arsenal star Jakub Kiwior could be on the move to Porto today. Reports suggesting he may head out of the UK to seal a deal with a new club.
Porto close in on Arsenal defender Kiwior
Jakub Kiwior’s time in north London looks to be winding down. Porto are pushing to finalise a deal for the centre-back. The Portuguese side have reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal for a loan that carries a buy option. The offer is believed to be worth over €25m.
The player has already shaken hands on personal terms. Both clubs are working out the final bits of the deal. If things go right, he could arrive in Porto as soon as tonight to complete the move.
Kiwior joined Arsenal from Spezia in 2023 and made 68 appearances, scoring three times. He has also been a regular in the Poland national team. He has won 45 caps in that time since arriving in the EPL. While Crystal Palace were also keen, Kiwior leaned towards Porto. He is preferring to take his next step away from English football rather than remain in London.
Gunners eye Hincapie as replacement
With Kiwior leaving, Arsenal is looking at Piero Hincapie of Bayer Leverkusen. The defender has already informed his current club that he wants to leave. He is pressing for a move to the EPL. Although, Leverkusen are holding firm on their €60m release clause.
The Gunners believe €45m is a more realistic figure. Talks are underway to find common ground. The north London club is weighing up a loan deal with a buy clause.
Author’s Opinion
Kiwior’s exit feels like the right call for both sides. Porto get a solid defender, and Arsenal can chase a target that fits Arteta’s plans better. Timing, though, will be everything in this late-window shuffle.
