Leeds United put in a woeful performance against Sheffield Wednesday as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties.

Karl Darlow conceded an own goal just after the hour mark before Jayden Bogle netted an equaliser late on.

However, Leeds went on to lose against Sheffield Wednesday on penalties to make it an early exit in the competition.

It was no doubt a worrying display against a side who were mainly made up of academy players.

Now, Leeds have made history after their shocking display against their Yorkshire rivals.

Daniel Farke will no doubt be concerned about the defeat, with many players vastly underperforming against the Owls.

Yet, somehow, these were worse than the match itself, with Leeds missing every one of their three spot kicks.

Now, according to LUFC Data via X on 26 August, this is the first time the Peacocks have done this in their history, with the user going on to call it “absolutely pathetic”.

Daniel Farke could now be at the risk of the sack at Leeds United

While the Carabao Cup means little for Leeds’ objectives this season, there were plenty of worrying signs in the match.

Many of the Peacocks’ new signings were poor, and it wasn’t until the substitutes came on that the visitors looked like they were going to do something.

Given the backing Farke has had this summer, if he fails to get these stars ticking, he may soon get the boot.

Farke was almost sacked by Leeds at the end of last season despite their promotion, and now it may not be long until the German is under serious risk once again.
