Man Utd alert to opportunity to sign‘extraordinary&exceptional’ Barca Euro 24-winning attacker

Manchester United are among those alert to an opportunity to sign Barcelona left-sided attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils are still open to bolstering their attack and the 22-year-old could be available as the Catalans are contemplating sales to register others.

Barca manager Hansi Flick had vetoed the departure of Lopez earlier in the window, but nothing can be ruled out and Man United are keeping tabs on the situation.

The Red Devils have not been able to hit the ground running this season, with the attacking trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko not yet firing on all cylinders.

Signing a defensive midfielder and another goalkeeper is next on their plans at the Old Trafford club.

Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba and Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens are being targeted, but an opportunity to sign Lopez would appeal to Man United if it presents itself.

The Spain international won the European Championship with his country in 2024 and was in fine form for the La Liga reigning champions last term.

Lopez bagged eight goals and ten assists in 46 games after ending 2023-34 with 11 goals and one assist.

The Man United target is a goal threat when played in the right position, grabbing six goals for Spain under-23 at the 2024 Summer Olympics to help them win the competition.

The Red Devils could do with such an ‘extraordinary and exceptional’ player within their ranks and a summer deal could be on the cards if he becomes available.

However, they will not be the only club looking to sign him and others playing in the Champions League could have the upper hand.

He knows playing in the elite European competition will boost his chances of going to the 2026 World Cup, and moving to Man United may not appeal to him.
