Despite knocking Sunderland out of the Carabao Cup, Huddersfield manager Lee Grant was full of praise for the [Black Cats](http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland).

The Terriers emerged as winners from a 6-5 penalty win after Marc Guiu's first Sunderland goal cancelled out an opener from Chelsea loanee Leo Castledine.

Former Derby and Stoke keeper Grant became Terriers boss in May and agreed a habit of cup upsets was not a bad one to develop - his side have dispatched Leicester and Sunderland on their way to the Third Round.

Grant called the penalty win "big" as he reflected on the journey in the competition, while heaping praise on the project that has taken Sunderland from League One to the Premier League.

"We're a couple of divisions below these guys and we've got to work so, so hard to get anywhere near achieving what Sunderland have achieved over the next few years - so, so hard.

"The promotion last year and the way the club have built and stepped forward consistently over the last few years, the level of player they're bringing in and recruiting now, it's quite exciting to watch."
