Report: £55m Man City player is now trying to build more chemistry with Erling Haaland behind…

If Manchester City go on to win a major trophy this season, Erling Haaland will likely be one of the main reasons behind their success.

Since his move to the Etihad Stadium in 2022, the Norwegian international has been instrumental in City’s ascent and even during the previous campaign, he scored 31 goals in all competitions.

Erling Haaland has had a bright start to the 2025/2026 season as well, with two goals to his name in two games.

Rayan Cherki vowed to make Haaland deadlier over the course of the campaign by creating chances at will for the star striker.

However, Cherki’s teammates at Manchester City will also have to do the same to get the best out of the 25-year-old.

Jamie Carragher praised Haaland as the best striker in the Premier League and regardless of City’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, their chances of winning the title remain sky-high due to his presence.

With Kevin De Bruyne signing for Napoli this summer, the former Borussia Dortmund marksman will be hoping that another player can replace the Belgian as his partner-in-crime up top.

Thierry Henry urged Jeremy Doku to create chances instead of completely placing his focus on dribbling and he seems to have acknowledged his advice, as the winger is working on building chemistry with Haaland — as per The Athletic.

So much so that Jeremy Doku is believed to have speaking to the two-time Premier League winner a lot behind the scenes to establish an “unspoken code” that enables the pair to understand the type of cross and subsequent movement required for any potential goalscoring situation.

Doku, who Manchester City bought for £55.5 million is keen to become more decisive in the final third and as a result, he has taken such a step to better his decision-making in dangerous positions.

City fans will be delighted to hear how motivated the 23-year-old is to reach the next level.

While the former Rennes speedster has largely impressed under Pep Guardiola’s guidance, he has plenty of room for improvement in terms of his productivity.
