Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is keen on joining Newcastle United before the transfer deadline, according to David Ornstein.
The Magpies have been keen to add new strikers to their squad all summer after Callum Wilson departed at the end of his contract, while Alexander Isak is refusing to play for the club again as he looks to push through a move to Liverpool.
While Eddie Howe has been looking to bring in Yoane Wissa for a long time, a deal is continuing to be held up by Brentford's demands, and now the Toon are looking to bring in the Norway international alongside him.
Strand Larsen Wants to Join Newcastle
Jorgen Strand Larsen in action for Wolverhampton Wanderers
Strand Larsen, who Wolves described as having an 'incredible' season in 2024/25 as he netted 14 goals during a loan spell from Celta Vigo, joined the Black and Gold club permanently this summer in a £23m deal.
But Newcastle are looking to put him in their famous black and white stripes before the end of the window, and have now seen two bids rejected for the 25-year-old.
An initial bid worth £50m with no add-ons was rejected, before a second bid worth £55m was turned down late on Tuesday night, with Wolves adamant they don't want to lose their first-choice striker in a summer where they have already sold Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha.
The Athletic journalist Ornstein has now reported that Strand Larsen, who scored twice as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over West Ham on Tuesday night, wants to move to St James' Park before the deadline on September 1st, but he will not agitate to leave Molineux.
Wolves don't believe there is adequate time in the transfer window remaining to replace him and their current stance is to reject any bid, although Newcastle hope to change their minds. Howe still wants to sign Wissa too from Brentford, although the gap in the valuations between the clubs is still an issue.
Wissa has been pushing to join all summer and is still desperate to move to play Champions League football. Newcastle now find themselves in a situation where two players want to join, but they cannot find an agreement with their clubs to get deals done.
