NFL sets stance on sports contracts

The NFL will take a similar approach to prediction market platforms as it does to sports betting, according to NFL management.

During an NFL media call, management said platforms that offer sports event contracts will fall under the same league policy as sportsbooks.

NFL players and employees are restricted from betting on NFL games or sports betting while at work. The policy will be extended to trading on prediction market platforms with NFL-related event contracts.

The league views the platforms as sportsbook copycats, NFL VP and chief compliance officer Sabrina Perel said.

NFL VP of sports betting, David Highhill, reiterated concerns voiced by the league to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) last year that event contracts do not include the same level of protection or monitoring included in sports betting regulations.
