On Tuesday, Sport reported Chelsea have offered €50m for Barcelona’s Fermín López. Later that day, Mundo Deportivo explained the Premier League club have given him 48 hours to join them.
Wednesday’s edition of AS reports Barca are unaware of any communication or bid from Chelsea. However, they are aware that the midfielder has a ‘very serious offer’ from the Blues.
Barca need to improve the finances to register their summer signings. The 22-year-old is an academy graduate, and his sale will help them register players.
Chelsea’s latest attempt to sign Fermín should please the La Liga winners. AS reports the Blues believe convincing the player will be key to this operation.
His preference is to continue at the Camp Nou but is aware of competition he will face at Barca and the salary he could earn at Chelsea. AS reports Fermín and his agent have given themselves 48 hours to make the important decision of his life.
Cope say Enzo Maresca has spoken to Spaniard several times to try and convince him and to inform that Chelsea will make a formal offer. He earns €6m per year at Barca and the report claims the west London club could offer him an annual salary of €15m.
They add Barcelona sporting director Deco will need €70m to sanction his sale.
Fermín’s future is in on own hands, and that’s according to Cadena Ser. They report the Blues offer is on the table and Barca will sell him if there’s a bid in excess of €50m.
Cadena Ser states: ‘The decision to leave rests solely in Fermín’s hands. Chelsea are fully aware of this, and they know the key to this difficult transaction lies in convincing the FC Barcelona youth player.’
To sum it up, Chelsea have to convince Fermín to stand a chance of securing his services.
