Report: Leeds discover Bilal El Khannouss' transfer stance after Crystal Palace move collapses

Leicester City talisman Bilal El Khannouss remains at the centre of a transfer battle, of which Leeds United have been involved.

Leeds United look as though they’re trying to do one or two more bits of business before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st. Recently, Leeds United completed a deal to sign James Justin from Leicester City, taking their summer signings tally up to 10.

What’s impressive is that the 49ers have spent £100m on new players at Leeds United this summer, after it was reported that Leeds had a £150m transfer budget for this summer’s transfer window.

Daniel Farke could plot a raid on another Leicester player in Bilal El Khannouss before the summer is out. The Moroccan international looks poised to leave the King Power and it looked as though he was heading to Crystal Palace, but reports on Tuesday revealed that El Khannouss’ move to Crystal Palace had fallen through.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett reported that Leicester City no longer needed to sell to satisfy PSR and would now charge £35m to sell El Khannouss, which is a price tag that deterred Palace.

Bilal El Khannouss may turn down possible Leeds United move

GIVEMESPORT have now weighed in on the matter. They report that El Khannouss is now considering making an ’11th hour U-turn’ and joining Palace’s and Leeds’ Premier League rivals Spurs instead.

The same report adds that El Khannouss is ‘preparing to make a final decision over his future in the coming days’ and that the 21-year-old is weighing up all of his options ahead of what looks set to be a deadline day move away from Leicester City.

But in what is no doubt a blow for Leeds and Farke, GIVEMESPORT add that El Khannouss is ‘determined to push himself by joining a side competing at the highest level’, indicating that he would rather join Spurs over Leeds.

With Leeds United still in search of a new number 10, it looks like Farke will have to turn his attentions elsewhere in the next few days.

Leeds United’s search for a new no.10 rumbles on, who’s on their radar?

If Farke signs a player in any one position in what’s left of the summer transfer window, it looks likely to be a player in the number 10 role. And with a move for El Khannouss looking less and less likely, it could force Farke to focus his attentions on one of a handful of players who seem like potential options for Leeds United, the main one of which is Emi Buendia.

Buendia looks as though he could leave Aston Villa in the final days of the transfer window, having tried to play himself back into contention but ultimately failing under Unai Emery. Meanwhile, Gustavo Hamer has been linked with Leeds United throughout the year, but Hamer will only leave Sheffield United to join PSV, with the Brazilian-born midfielder uninterested in a switch to Leeds.

Elsewhere, Getafe’s Christantus Uche has blocked a move to Wolves amid links to Leeds United. The Nigerian midfielder is set to make a decision on his future in the very near future, and he could be someone who rapidly comes onto Leeds United’s radar.

Meanwhile, Facundo Buonanotte continues to be linked with Leeds United as well, but he seems to be closer to joining other clubs rather than a move to Elland Road right now.
