When is the Carabao Cup draw? Time, TV channel, live stream info as Liverpool enters competition

Liverpool will find out its Carabao Cup third round opponent later today when the draw takes place following the conclusion of Grimsby Town vs Manchester United.

At this round of the competition, clubs who are involved in European competitions this season enter the Carabao Cup. The eight Champions League and Europa League clubs will be separated from the rest of the teams and cannot face each other due to schedule constraints.

Prior to the third round, the tournament is regionalized to limit travel across the country. However, there is no such restriction at this point, so Liverpool could face any non-European team either home or away.

Last season, Liverpool reached the final under Arne Slot, losing to Newcastle United at Wembley in March. This time, the Reds will hope to go one better and get a first domestic cup under their belt under the Dutch head coach.

Fans will be able to watch the draw live in the UK. It is set to be shown live on Sky Sports after the conclusion of the Grimsby match at roughly 10.15pm UK time (5.15pm ET), though an exact time will depend on how long that fixture takes to complete.

Ties in the third round will be split across two midweeks due to European participation, with Liverpool’s game due to be held in the week beginning September 22.

"Disappointing result, disappointing performance," Slot said after losing the Carabao Cup final last season. "Were we mentally or physically tired? No, but this game had nothing to do with running.

"This game had only to do with playing duels and there was no intensity in terms of running in this game at all, so you cannot even judge it if we were tired, physically, because we could not press them.

"You can judge a team if they are tired if they press, but there was nothing to press because they played over our press. The game was slow, not intense, so it's difficult to judge for me if we were physically ready."
