Jorgen Strand Larsen makes Molineux admission Wolves fans will adore amid Newcastle pursuit

Wolves supporters may or may not have watched Jorgen Strand Larsen in an old gold shirt for the final time last night.

Wanderers beat West Ham United 3-2 at Molineux in the Carabao Cup to reach the third round – and the Norwegian was the hero of the hour.

Jorgen Strand Larsen came off the bench to score two goals in two minutes for Wolves.

After Wolves had conceded to two headers from Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paqueta, the Norwegian came on and dug his team out of a hole.

He reminded everyone of his quality, and his performance also showed why Newcastle are now extremely keen to sign him.

It’s been claimed Wolves may accept a fee of £60 million for Strand Larsen, with Newcastle having just seen a £55 million bid turned down.

Pereira has said Strand Larsen won’t force a move, and given the player’s comments last night, that is likely to be the case.

Wolves losing Strand Larsen with just days to go before the window closes would be a hammer blow.

Last night he reminded everyone how good he can be, and Pereira sang his praises after the match, branding him ‘a top player’.

It seems there is a genuine possibility he could join Newcastle in the coming days.

“When the crowd is going here, it’s one of the best feelings ever. We are an energetic group and it’s important that we create a good atmosphere here at Molineux."

However, fans may now think there’s some hope of him staying put, with Strand Larsen making some nice comments about Molineux after last night’s game.

He said: “It’s always special. Every minute since I came to the club has been extremely special. I have to say thanks to them and it’s important that they are behind our backs when things are going bad too, because we need that backing.

“We are a very energetic group, and with the staff too, they are all over the place sometimes, and they want to give us so much energy, and it’s important that we create a good atmosphere here at Molineux.”

Fans will hope Strand Larsen’s Molineux verdict points to him staying

Perhaps there could be something in Strand Larsen describing the Molineux crowd as ‘special’, and saying that every minute of his time at the club has been ‘extremely special’.

There is no doubt that Strand Larsen is happy at Wolves, and feels the love of the supporters.

But this doesn’t mean he’ll stay.

Ultimately, there is a chance for him to play Champions League football with Newcastle and if they present an offer Wolves deem suitable, then he’ll give it the green light, based on the many claims suggesting he wants the move.

If he ends up staying though, Strand Larsen’s popularity at Molineux will soar even higher.

It would give the whole club a lift, and Wolves’ hopes of staying in the Premier League will be boosted.
