Grace Clinton has been linked with a move to Manchester City, according to [The Times](https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/womens-football/article/grace-clinton-man-city-united-transfer-news-lionesses-england-rwgsw7ckg). The England midfielder will miss Manchester United’s Women’s Champions League [qualifier today](https://womenfootball.blog/manchester-united-vs-psv-preview-lineups-and-where-to-watch/) due to a minor injury sustained at the Women’s EURO 2025. Clinton’s contract with United runs until 2026.
The 21-year-old joined United in 2022 and immediately went out on loan, first to Bristol City in the Women’s Championship and then to Tottenham Hotspur for the 2023/24 season. At Spurs, she enjoyed a breakout campaign that earned her the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
**Asked about the transfer rumors,** United head coach Marc Skinner downplayed any suggestions of an imminent move: “I’ve not been told anything of the sort. So look, I’m sure there are people interested in Grace, because she’s a fantastic footballer. But the reality is, the club have not told me anything of that.
“I am now preparing for Champions League tomorrow, and Grace is progressing nicely to being part of our our squad going forwards.”
United have already strengthened this summer with the arrivals of Fridolina Rolfö and Julia Zigiotti Olme, but Skinner admitted more reinforcements are needed:
“We need to bring forward in in this window,” Skinner said. “Potentially, probably looking for two players in this window. We’re looking in those forward areas, so we have an array of options and people were looking at.”
“I think we’ve done two good bits of work here, but absolutely, I think we still need more. If I’m being honest, I think we’re still probably two players away from having the depth that I want. You don’t always get what you want, of course, in football, but the reality for me is that I think we still need to add a couple of kind of experienced players in that have this level of understanding so that we’re ready.
“Because should we qualify… we then have to maintain two high level games per week, so I think we still need a couple of players in and that’s something we’re working hard behind the scenes to do.”
