Former Ohio State football player makes NFL roster after going undrafted: Buckeye Breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State football player Josh Fryar made the Arizona Cardinals’ initial 53-man roster, surviving a round of cuts Tuesday.

Fryar, who played more than 2,000 snaps across five years as an offensive lineman with the Buckeyes, wasn’t taken in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, he signed as an undrafted free agent and reunited with his former position coach, Justin Frye.

Fryar is a product of Beech Grove, Indiana. As a recruit out of Beech Grove High School in the 2020 cycle, Fryar was a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He appeared in just one game as a true freshman in 2020 before appearing in five games the following year.

Fryar became a regular contributor in 2022 when he appeared in 13 games with one start. He then started all 29 games for the Buckeyes between 2023-24.

During Ohio State’s run to a national title last season, Fryar led the team with 928 snaps played.

Colin Simmons explains Instagram post

Colin Simmons’ Instagram page caught eyes last week after Ohio State coach Ryan Day named Julian Sayin as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback.

Simmons, a standout defensive end for Texas — OSU’s Week 1 opponent — shared a post about Sayin being the starter.

On Monday, he explained his action.

“Honestly, I’m just excited that they chose a quarterback,” Simmons told reporters. “It’s really nothing major behind it, I’d say. It’s no target for him or nothing like that. I’m just glad that they have a quarterback that I’m ready to sack.”
