Goals in each half handed the Bees a 2-0 win and secured their spot in the third round, while Bournemouth were knocked out at this stage for the second season in a row.
The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in defeat.
**Djordje Petrovic: 6**
Conceded twice but had no other saves to make, the two goals were Brentford’s only shots on target.
_(Image: Richard Crease)_ **Julio Soler: 7**
One of the positives on the night for the Cherries, Soler looked bright both offensively and defensively. Clearly likes to have a shot and had a few, but never really troubled Hakon Valdmimarsson.
**James Hill: 5**
Starting at centre back, Hill’s indecision meant he failed to clear for Brentford’s first goal, although there was not too much he could do to defend the second as the last man.
**Bafode Diakite: 6**
Diakite looks to be growing in confidence in the Cherries team and had a solid enough first half, before he was replaced at the break.
_(Image: Richard Crease)_ **Julian Araujo: 4**
The right back was ok but was needlessly sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence, that rather summed up the night.
**Ryan Christie: 6**
A decent enough return to the starting XI for Christie but there were signs that he was still building into his best form. That will take time and the minutes in the cup will have helped.
**Alex Scott: 5**
Scott was not as influential in midfield as he would have liked and he was caught in possession on halfway which led to the second Brentford goal.
**Amine Adli: 6**
Adli’s debut against Wolves showed glimpses of what he could do, running at his man and causing problems. The low block of Brentford prevented him from showing this and he was largely quiet, although it did improve in the second half when he switched to the right wing.
**Justin Kluivert: 5**
A quiet game for Kluivert, who, like Christie, is building back from injury and a lack of preseason.
**Ben Gannon-Doak: 5**
Gannon-Doak can’t be faulted for his energy and effort, but he struggled against the Brentford defence at times, and by the end of the first half the Bees seemed to have him figured out. He was replaced at halftime by Antoine Semenyo.
_(Image: Richard Crease)_ **Eli Junior Kroupi: 6**
Kroupi made a bright start, getting an early shot off and looking to be a threat. But afterwards he struggled with penetrating the Brentford low block, and saw his chances limited.
**Substitutes:**
**Antoine Semenyo: 6**
A halftime sub, Semenyo injected a bit of energy into the team initially, before he too began to struggle to break down the Bees defence.
**Marcos Senesi: 6**
A solid performance in the second half from the Argentine.
**David Brooks: 6**
**Evanilson: 7**
**Tyler Adams: 6**
