Last week, Corriere dello Sport reported Lorenzo Pellegrini’s relationship with AS Roma was deteriorating and he was considering a move to West Ham.
Interest from Fiorentina has also been teased but the newspaper believed the lure of London could prove to be key for the Hammers.
A different stance has emerged from today’s Corriere dello Sport.
They report that so far, West Ham haven’t secured the 29-year-old’s approval for a move. Pellegrini is also stalling on an offer to move within Serie A.
This is likely to be because of the midfielder’s willingness to stay at Roma and convince Gian Piero Gasperini he has a role in the squad.
West Ham have been in touch with Giallorossi sporting director Frederic Massara through some intermediaries to understand the situation further and are now prepared to make ‘one last attempt’ for Pellegrini.
They will offer the Italian better wages in the new approach, hoping that the move now goes through.
West Ham are presented as making major attempts, with the outlet claiming that Pellegrini is unlikely to be handed a new deal by Roma with his current contract expiring next summer.
The Italian giants are keen to sell the Azzurri player, as they do not want to offer a renewal or lose him on a free transfer in 2026.
