Newcastle United target Jorgen Strand Larsen showed the Toon Army why Eddie Howe is so keen on him last night, scoring twice against West Ham to send Wolverhampton Wanderers through to the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Strand Larsen came off the bench to take Wolves from 2-1 down to 3-2 winners with two goals in three minutes, heaping pressure on Graham Potter and probably adding another couple of million to Wolves' valuation.
Meanwhile, Newcastle were licking their wounds after having a £55 million bid rejected for the Norwegian following on from the rejected £50 million offer at the weekend.
Jan Aage Fjortoft claimed on X that Newcastle's next bid would likely be accepted, but with just a £5m increase, it's likely that the bid wasn't as high as he was expecting.

Newcastle had a second bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected on Tuesday
Craig Hope has written in the Daily Mail that Newcastle will go in with a third bid and that Jorgen Strand Larsen is keen on a move to Tyneside.
£60 million has often been touted as the fee it would take to get Wolves to deal, and Newcastle are approaching that figure, so this one might actually come off before Monday's deadline.
Hope also says that the Yoane Wissa deal remains active, with talks progressing on Tuesday.

Newcastle may go with two strikers from the B-list this season
It's looking increasingly likely that Newcastle are ready to settle for two strikers from their Callum Wilson replacement list rather than one from an A-tier of names who were eyed as a replacement for Alexander Isak.
It may mean that Newcastle bring in two B-tier strikers and still let Alexander Isak leave, and the Magpies will go on in the hope that Wissa and Strand Larsen can step up to deliver the goals we need.
Given all that has gone on between Isak and the club, it may not be the worst thing to just get him out of the club. We can have a year with Wissa and Strand Larsen and try again next summer to bring in the big signing.
