Several NBA teams targeting Malik Beasley

Malik Beasley is no longer a target of a federal investigation into unusual gambling, and now, several NBA teams are looking at his case, with him being one of the best free agents available on the market.

Malik Beasley had a complicated offseason. The guard was close to signing a multi-year contract extension with the Pistons, but then, he became the target of a federal investigation into unusual gambling.

Due to the ongoing investigations, the Detroit Pistons moved on to other targets and Beasley's situation entered into a stalemate.

In the last few days, though, it was reported that Beasley is no longer a target of that investigation, but the player is still considered a subject of the probe, so he hasn't been fully cleared, either by the investigators or the NBA.

Despite his situation, though, NBA teams are starting to look more and more into his case, with Beasley being one of the best remaining free agents on the market.

According to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype, several teams have reached out to Malik Beasley and his entourage to check his availability, including the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Cavs recently lost Max Straus to a foot injury that will force him to sit out for at least three months, so the team is on the market to add another guard.

Knicks and Cavaliers, though, can only offer Beasley a minimum veteran's deal. Malik Beasley has already played for the Timberwolves from 2020 to 2022, and Minnesota, currently operating under the second apron, would have the ability to offer him more than the minimum salary.
