Alexander Isak’s potential transfer to Liverpool has dragged on for way too long now.
Ever since the summer transfer window opened up in June, it’s been made clear that the Sweden international was Liverpool’s number one target, with Isak also only having eyes for Anfield.
And, while the Reds may have already bid £110million to try and prise him away from St James’ Park, there’s no stopping them from going in again with a fee worth around £130million expected to be enough to seal the deal.

However, since there are now only a few days left of the transfer window, questions are being asked about whether a move is actually viable, especially since Eddie Howe’s men can’t seem to attract a replacement number nine.
Liverpool may turn their attention towards Dusan Vlahovic
Seeing as though Liverpool only have four senior attackers among their ranks at the moment, a new forward is likely to be essential to the way that the Reds’ season pans out.
That is, especially when Mohamed Salah could end up spending six weeks away from the Premier League due to AFCON.
And now, as per a fresh report from TEAMtalk, it seems like the Anfield outfit could turn their attention towards Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic if a deal for Isak doesn’t work out.
The report outlines that both Newcastle and Liverpool have ‘identified’ the Serbian as a potential target this summer.

In Newcastle’s case, it would be to replace Isak, and for Liverpool, he’s on a ‘long list of alternatives’ in case the move for Isak doesn’t work out.
The report also adds that Arne Slot wants to ‘bring in another striker’ before the deadline strikes, with the Reds now willing to look ‘elsewhere’ rather than just the Sweden international.
Lastly, the report shares that Vlahovic is ‘open’ to both opportunities this summer.

Dusan Vlahovic could be a solid alternative to Alexander Isak for Liverpool
Once described as “massive” by a former Juventus striker, Vlahovic could be a smart transfer option for Liverpool to explore.
A year or two ago, the Serbia international was getting linked with a move to the biggest teams in the world, with Premier League side Arsenal long-term admirers.
However, now that Vlahovic has entered the final year of his contract and he doesn’t look likely to extend his stay with the Old Lady, now could be the perfect time for Liverpool to try and sign him.
Last season, he contributed to 22 goals across all competitions for the Serie A giants, and he’s already managed to bag a goal on the opening day of the 2025-26 campaign.
Season Games played Goals Assists
2024-25 44 17 5
2023-24 38 18 3
2022-23 42 14 4
2021-22 45 29 6
The last four full seasons of Dusan Vlahovic in numbers.
These numbers alone show why the striker would be a solid addition to Slot’s first-team squad.
Both him and Hugo Ekitike could help lead Liverpool’s attacking line, and since Vlahovic is only 25 years old, there’s still plenty of time for him to grow.
Of course, only time will tell what will happen between Liverpool, Isak and Vlahovic, but if the Reds end the summer transfer window with just four senior attackers among their ranks, they may have dug their own grave.
