Fabrizio Romano: Everton throw their hat into the ring to land 'fantastic' player for Moyes

Everton are looking to make some late deals happen before the end of play on Monday.

There has been a lot of movement on Merseyside this summer, with Everton seeing considerable player turnover.

David Moyes lost a significant number of players as free agents, and others returned to their parent clubs at the end of their loan deals.

However, some good work has been done by Angus Kinnear to try and improve the squad quality and depth.

Everton are looking to add to their defence before the window shuts, with injuries already hitting the full-back and centre-back positions.

After a summer of disruption for the defender, Jarrad Branthwaite will miss weeks through injury, which will test Moyes’ squad depth.

But it seems as if the Blues are already looking to add another experienced figure to provide Moyes with further options.

The former Manchester United defender does have interest arriving from other clubs, though.

It is claimed that Fiorentina are advancing with their own negotiations, and a move to Italy is appealing to the Sweden international.

Everton hold a long-standing interest in Lindelof, with a potential move to Merseyside speculated earlier this year.

Although the defender would arrive without a pre-season, adding another defensive option could prove a masterstroke with the current injury issues.

What Zlatan Ibrahimovic said about Victor Lindelof

Lindelof had not been a regular at Manchester United for a while, which led to his departure as a free agent.

But this is a player with vast experience, having played a whopping 194 times in the Premier League for the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho hailed Lindelof as ‘fantastic’ during their time together at Old Trafford.

And he is not the only legendary figure to wax lyrical about the Sweden international, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic also singing his praise in the past.

“Victor is doing great things. He has a lot of responsibility for the national team,” he told Sky Sports a number of years ago.

“He is ready for the big clubs out there, it’s up to him and what he wants. I know he’s hot on the market.”

It seems as if Fiorentina may hold the advantage, but this could mark a smart piece of business if Everton could land his signature.
