Louis Rees-Zammit has posted a message to former Kansas City Chiefs team-mate Travis Kelce after it was revealed he was engaged to popstar Taylor Swift. The superstar couple made the announcement on Instagram with five beautiful photos in a picturesque garden setting.
Rees-Zammit has returned to rugby and recently signed for Bristol Bears in the PREM. In January 2024, he left the sport to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL, and following a successful trial day, he was picked up by back-to-back Super Bowl champions Chiefs, who Kelce plays for.
The Welshman and Kelce trained together in summer last year, before Rees-Zammit was cut ahead of the new season.
Writing on Instagram, Rees-Zammit reposted the engagement announcement with the caption "Congrats bro (heart emoji)", tagging Kelce.
Speaking to former Scotland second-row Jim Hamilton on RugbyPass TV’s Walk the Talk last year, Rees-Zammit revealed he had received a hand-written note from Swift herself.
"I didn't get to meet her," he explained.
"I went to a concert and I got a hand-written note from her.
"This was before training camp so it was just like 'good luck for the season, good luck for training camp, I heard you're doing well' - stuff like that.
"It's at home. It's in Cardiff. I didn't bring it out to America with me. That was pretty crazy, getting a letter from Taylor Swift. That was kind of the life I was in and I was just rolling with it."
Speaking for the first time after his return to rugby, Rees-Zammit spoke about Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, and what it was like to be around superstars like them.
"The experience was unbelievable," began Rees-Zammit.
"Living in a new country, completely different culture, being involved in a locker room which was completely different to rugby.
"All those experiences are only going to help me, coming back.
"My leadership skills have gotten a lot better, just being next to those global figures like Mahomes and Kelce.
"They are absolutely huge figures and everything they do day to day I learnt from and that's something I'm hoping to bring back to rugby."
