Ruben Amorim will be hoping to use his squad depth at Manchester United this evening when the Reds take on League Two side Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup (8pm).

United travel to Blundell Park looking to win for the first time this season, following a defeat to Arsenal and draw with Fulham. Amorim's men are entering the competition at the second round stage for the first time in more than a decade after failing to qualify for Europe.

Changes are expected within the United starting XI for their trip to Lincolnshire with the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Kobbie Mainoo and Ayden Heaven all expected to feature.

However, Wednesday night's clash will be no easy task - with Grimsby making a strong start to their League Two campaign. The Mariners have avoided defeat in their opening five league games.

One player who would have been hoping to be involved in some capacity at Grimsby is Noussair Mazraoui. The defender has been unavailable for United since the friendly with Leeds United in July with no details disclosed on his injury.

"Maybe he's going to return next week, we will see," Amorim said. "But he's near. We are just finishing some drills with him to be sure he is not going to have another problem."

Lisandro Martinez is the only current long-term absentee for United - after sustaining an ACL injury in February. He has been recovering since undergoing successful surgery on the issue.

Selection-wise, United could use their squad and hand first starts of the season to a number of players. Alongside Sesko, Mainoo and Heaven, goalkeeper Andre Onana will be desperate to return to the team.

Having suffered an injury in pre-season, Onana was left out of the matchday squad against Arsenal, before then returning to the subs bench at Craven Cottage. Despite Senne Lammens' imminent transfer from Royal Antwerp, the Cameroon international is still in to retain his No.1 spot.
