'Yes...' - Fabrizio Romano shares what he's hearing this morning on Arsenal deal for Hincapie

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Piero Hincapie, with a move agreed on the player side and club-to-club talks ongoing, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

It's been a busy summer transfer window for the Gunners so far, securing a host of new additions all over the pitch. The latest player to join the club is Eberechi Eze, with Arsenal hijacking Tottenham Hotspur's move to secure his signature. The likes of Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, and Noni Madueke have also arrived through the door as Mikel Arteta's side push to win the Premier League title.

GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs recently confirmed that Jakub Kiwior is closing in on a move to join Portuguese club Porto. As a result, the north London outfit are now in the market to sign another defender before the transfer window slams shut on Monday evening.

Fabrizio Romano: Hincapie to Arsenal Update

Piere Hincape and Florian Wirtz celebrate for Bayer Leverkusen.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are still working on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Hincapie. The defender has agreed to join the Gunners, with club-to-club talks ongoing at the moment. When asked if Arsenal are any closer to securing his signature, Romano said...

"Yes, working on it. It’s agreed on the player side and in talks club side."

GIVEMESPORT sources recently confirmed that Hinacpie wants to join Arsenal interest of Tottenham, who have also shown an interest in signing him this summer. The Ecuadorian international is pushing to leave the Bundesliga club in the final week of the window, but Leverkusen are insisting that his £52m release clause must be activated.

It's understood that Leverkusen could lower their demands in the final days before the window slams shut, with the defender keen on a move to the Premier League. Hincapie is capable of playing on the left-hand side of defence as well as in the middle as a centre-back, so his versatility would make him a useful option for Arteta.

Although adding another defender might not appear to be an immediate priority, Arteta clearly wants a deeper squad as Arsenal aim to tackle Premier League and Champions League football. The Gunners went without a trophy last season, and with the money they've spent, they are clearly pushing for silverware this term.
