Arsenal hire security guard to stay close to attacker at all times

Arsenal have hired a security guard to keep over-eager fans from getting too close to Max Dowman, according to the Sun.

The 15-year-old attacker made his Premier League debut for the Gunners against Leeds United last weekend and has skyrocketed to fame.

Arsenal have a security team around them when they travel for away games and arrive at Emirates Stadium.

One has been specifically assigned to be the shadow of the teenage sensation at all times given his increasing popularity.

The guard was spotted on the touchline when Arsenal travelled to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on the opening weekend of the campaign.

In keeping with Premier League and club safeguarding rules, Dowman changes away from his team-mates before training and games because he is not yet 18.

However, he can enter the dressing room to listen to the manager once his teammates are dressed.

Dowman also cannot share hotel rooms with the senior professionals on away trips and is made to stay with other underage players included on the trip.

While he could not make his Premier League debut until this season because of age restrictions, he is free to play for Arsenal in the Champions League, and he could feature this term.

It had been widely reported that a player must be 16 and above to feature in the elite European competition, but there is no UEFA rule regarding age restriction.

A player aged 15 could play in the Champions League if he is registered to squad list A.

He has trained with the first-team since he was 14 and is starting to knock on the first-team door following some impressive performances during pre-season.

Dowman is punching above his weight and could soon be featuring regularly for the Gunners at this rate.

Arsenal have started 2025-26 with two wins in their opening two Premier League games and are back in action against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
