Liverpool and Crystal Palace remain in talks over a deal for Marc Guehi before the transfer deadline, according to GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds have been pushing to add to their central defensive options this summer after Jarell Quansah was sold to Bayer Leverkusen, while Joe Gomez's injury problems and Ibrahima Konate's contract situation have left Arne Slot wanting more depth.
Young defender Giovanni Leoni has already arrived from Parma, but England star Guehi has been the top target. With just five days remaining before the deadline, talks remain ongoing.

Marc Guehi in action for Crystal Palace
Reports earlier in the window have suggested that Guehi favours a move to Anfield to join Liverpool above all else, with personal terms already agreed between the two parties.
Romano, writing on his X account, has now reiterated that fact despite some other reports linking Manchester City and others with a move to sign the Eagles skipper this month.
Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish has admitted that the defender is likely to be sold unless he signs a new contract at Selhurst Park, which he has no intention of doing, but the south London club don't want to sell for less than what they believe to be market value.
Liverpool are ready to do a deal before the September 1st deadline but only on their own terms. If a deal isn't possible then Liverpool won't panic, and they are prepared to make another attempt to sign him in 2026 - either in January or when his contract expires next summer to sign him on a free transfer.
Guehi, who Alan Pardew has described as "phenomenal", is prioritising regular game time this season ahead of the World Cup next summer, and wants guarantees before leaving Palace.
So far the 25-year-old has played in every Crystal Palace game this season, including the Community Shield win over Liverpool and the Europa Conference League qualifier against Fredrikstad. Oliver Glasner wants to keep him, and replacing him this late in the window will undoubtedly be difficult, but Liverpool are still pushing and this could go down to the wire.
