Newcastle United have been offered the chance to end their painstaking search for a new striker, according to reports - with Sporting starlet Conrad Harder being offered to Eddie Howe via intermediaries as they look to strengthen their frontline in the final days and hours of the transfer window.
The Magpies have yet to win in the Premier League this season, after a 0-0 draw away at Aston Villa was followed up by an agonising last-minute defeat to Liverpool on Monday evening. Attacking incomings are needed and that could see them opt for a move for the Champions League star in the next few days.
Report: Newcastle 'Offered' Chance to Sign Sporting Star Harder
Conrad Harder
The report by TBR Football states that Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Sporting striker Harder in the final days of the transfer window, with the Dane looking 'set' to leave the Portuguese giants.
He had been touted as Viktor Gyokeres' long-term successor after his fellow Scandinavian teammate joined Arsenal, but he's now set to leave the Primeira Liga champions before next week's transfer deadline - and Newcastle are one side who have been offered the chance to sign him amid their woes at bringing a striker in, despite already being offered the chance to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic.
Alexander Isak continues to search for his move to Liverpool, currently training away from the first-team, after insisting that promises have been made and essentially broken between himself and the club's hierarchy, who are holding out on their valuation.
Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has seen a bid of £50million rejected for his services, whilst a move for Brentford star Yoane Wissa is likely still in the works, but Harder would be a strong option and Eddie Howe may be forced to move for him in the coming days.
AC Milan are also thought to have turned their attention to Harder, with the report suggesting that the Rossonneri have made a £20million offer plus a sell-on clause for his services. But intermediaries have made contact to inform them of their availability.
The 'special' 20-year-old came through the Nordsjaelland academy, making his debut for them in 2003 at the age of just 18 - and became a regular the following campaign with seven goals in 33 appearances.
Two goals in seven to start last season saw Sporting make their move, and he acted as the perfect foil for Gyokeres, scoring 11 goals in 47 appearances - but in a summer where his Swedish teammate has departed, he could follow suit.
