'There's a difference…'Baffled former Man Utd star thinks'miracle'is needed for summer target to become'world-class'player

Ben Foster has claimed that Manchester United are pursuing a “decent” transfer target, despite admitting that he is not the perfect fit for the Red Devils’ needs.

Manchester United remain active in the transfer window ahead of 1st September deadline and could still bring new signings through the doors at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have already welcomed the arrival of different key targets this summer, including Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim has also been axing players from the United first-team squad and the Red Devils have already shipped off the likes of Marcus Rashford on loan.

But United are still looking at ways to offload several other first-team players off the books, including Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho.

United manager Ruben Amorim still needs additional support for other areas of the pitch in his system, including a defensive-minded midfielder and a shot-stopper.

Ben Foster reacts to Man Utd’s transfer interest in Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens amid the Andre Onana uncertainty

Senne Lammens has been linked with Manchester United and the Red Devils are believed to be in talks with Royal Antwerp over a potential summer swoop.

According to Sky Sports, United could agree to a £17.3m transfer for the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper and Senne Lammens is viewed as a long-term prospect.

Ruben Amorim has been left with a real headache over his choice between the sticks, with both Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana failing to impress for United.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster admitted that he has looked up United target Lammens and he has not been fully blown away by the Royal Antwerp star.

“They’ve been linked with a £25m move for the Royal Antwerp goalie Lammens,” he said on ‘Ben Foster AKA The Cycling GK.’

“I watched a little highlights reel of him on YouTube. He looks okay, I still don’t think it’s the answer.”

Ben Foster singles out two players as better options over Man Utd signing Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp

Senne Lammens has been with Royal Antwerp since 2023 after he left Club Brugge and he is under contract until 2027 with the Belgian Pro League side.

Amorim has used Altay Bayindir as his main choice for United’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford and 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Andre Onana missed United’s opener against Arsenal in the 2025-26 Premier League season before settling for a place on the bench for the away clash against Fulham.

Foster does not think that Lammens could ever reach “world-class” potential and thinks Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emiliano Martinez would be better signings.

“If you’re Manchester United, then you need to be signing a Donnarumma or a Martinez because that’s the difference,” he added.

“There’s a difference in level.

“He [Lammens] looks like he’s a decent young goalkeeper, but to go and pluck someone from Royal Antwerp and expect them to become a world-class goalkeeper in the Premier League for Manchester United, it’s a miracle if you get it.”

The long-term futures of Red Devils duo Bayindir and Onana at Old Trafford are in doubt amid United’s interest in signing Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
