Former Michigan State O-lineman A.J. Arcuri was waived by the Los Angeles Rams ahead of the roster cut deadline on Tuesday, which requires NFL teams to shrink their roster to 53 or fewer players.
A six-year member of the Spartans’ O-line, Arcuri played in 40 games and started 17 at left and right tackle. Redshirting in 2016 and being out due to injury in 2017, Arcuri finally made his debut in 2017.
His crowning season in 2021, where he earned an All-Big Ten honorable mention, coincided with Kenneth Walker III’s Doak Walker Award-winning season. The Spartans’ dynamic running back finished second in FBS in rushing yards with the help of the Michigan State O-line.
Arcuri would be selected with the 261st pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, which was the second-to-last selection, by the Rams.
He was waived after training camp and signed onto the Rams’ practice squad the next day. Arcuri was elevated to the active roster later that season and appeared in eight games, starting one, as a rookie.
The next season, Arcuri once again was signed to the practice squad, but didn’t see any NFL play for Los Angeles in 2023. He would get to make two appearances in 2024 for the Rams, but spent most of the season on the practice squad.
After another training camp, Arcuri was waived ahead of the 2025 season. If he continues following this pattern, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him rejoin the Rams’ practice squad again.
