PSV Outclassed by Manchester United

Manchester United controlled the tempo from the start, pressing high and forcing PSV onto the back foot. The hosts nearly broke through inside the first five minutes with an early corner, while PSV struggled to cope with the physicality and pressure.

The breakthrough came in the 7th minute, when Elisabeth Terland punished another defensive mistake from the PSV back line, calmly slotting home to give United a deserved lead. PSV responded with their first effort just after ten minutes, but the Red Devils’ defence stood firm to block the attempt.

United continued to threaten, with Terland almost producing a spectacular back-heel finish from a Sandberg corner, only for a PSV defender to clear off the line. Another chance to double their lead arrived in the 19th minute when Terland found Julia Zigiotti Olme with a pass across goal, but the midfielder’s strike cannoned back off the post.

Bizet doubled the lead

The pressure finally paid off again as United doubled their advantage before the break. Sandberg’s cross picked out Toone, whose effort was saved, but Celin Bizet Dønnum reacted quickest to slot home the rebound.

At the interval, United lead 2–0 after an impressive display of dominance, while PSV have been outclassed: losing duels, pinned in their own half, and struggling to keep possession.

Second Half: Man Utd Seal the Win

PSV began the second half with more composure, showing early intent in the opening five minutes. But their efforts were quickly undone when a misplaced pass from Lacroix fell to Toone, who set up Terland for her second of the night to make it 3–0 in the 53rd minute.

Just over ten minutes later, the Norwegian striker completed her hat-trick in style. A slick one-two with Toone allowed Terland to stay composed in front of goal, sealing her third and United’s fourth in the 64th minute.

Marc Skinner made several substitutions to rotate his squad, with Malard and Millie Turner coming on, while Bizet and Sandberg made way. Later, Zigiotti was replaced by Keira Barry.

PSV came close to a consolation goal when Ripa tested Tullis-Joyce with a thunderous effort, but the United keeper produced an outstanding diving save to deny her.

The Dutch side grew into the game in the closing stages, but United had already done the damage. After a dominant display, the Red Devils sealed a 4–0 victory, with Terland netting a hat-trick and Bizet adding the other.
