Aston Villa announce discount offer on Europa League tickets

The discount is available to season ticket holders and members who buy tickets for all home group stage fixtures up front in a four-match package.

Villa, who will discover their opponents this Friday, had previously announced adult season ticket holders would be charged between £45 and £57 per game, with the price rising to between £55 and £67 for non-season ticket holders.

The 20 per cent discount offer has been instigated by new president of business operations, Francesco Calvo, who is eager to repair a relationship with supporters which in recent years has become frayed despite the success of Unai Emery’s team.

Ticket prices have been among the biggest bones of contention, with Villa roundly criticised for charging supporters up to £97 to attend last season’s home Champions League fixtures.

Calvo, who joined Villa from Juventus at the start of July, met the club's new fan advisory board for the first time on Tuesday.

He said: “We are proud to play European competitions but at the same time we are aware of how much it costs supporters to passionately support their team, so we wanted to reward the loyalty of those who are planning on attending all four games.

“I’m sure everyone is excited for the draw on Friday afternoon. I’m well aware of how special the atmosphere is at Villa Park on European nights and we are looking forward to what is hopefully another exciting European campaign for the club."

Villa will find out their group stage opponents on Friday with Uefa using a digital draw system to decide the fixtures.

Emery’s team will play four fixtures at home and four away, with the top eight teams at the end of the 36-team league phase going directly through to the last-16.

Those teams who finish between ninth and 24th go through to the play-off round, with the bottom 12 exiting the competition.
