Wolves reach agreement to sell striker to Champions League club, he's off for his medical -…

It is now only a matter of time until Fabio Silva leaves Wolves permanently.

The Portuguese striker has long been linked with an exit from the club, and there has been some surprise that he is still on the books at this point.

Speculation has been persistent around Fabio Silva for months, after he returned to Wolves following a successful loan spell with Las Palmas.

He has had interest from plenty of clubs.

Molineux News was recently informed that the Bundesliga would be Silva’s most likely destination.

And that now appears to be on the cards for Silva, with Borussia Dortmund making a breakthrough.

Silva has been a target for Dortmund for quite a while.

But it was suggested earlier this week that AC Milan were trying to hijack Dortmund’s move for Silva.

But now, according to David Ornstein, an agreement between Wolves and Dortmund has finally been reached for the permanent transfer of Silva.

The Bundesliga outfit are to pay €26.5 million, comprising €22.5 million with €4 million in add-ons.

That is just under £23 million in total.

This is a slight increase on the £21.6 million Dortmund proposed to Wolves for Silva earlier this week.

Silva is claimed to have already said his goodbyes to his Wolves teammates last night, although he was not in the matchday squad to face West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

Silva will now travel to Germany for his Dortmund medical, and he’ll get the chance to start a new chapter and make a success of his time in the Bundesliga. He’ll also get to play in the Champions League.

£23 million is a great sale by Wolves

It has taken a long time, but Wolves finally have a deal in place to sell Silva.

And getting £23 million in total for the player is really good work by those who have worked on it.

This time last year, £23 million for Silva would have been unthinkable.

But Wolves took a gamble by sending him on loan to Las Palmas, and that move has ultimately helped bump up his market value.

Wolves are still making a loss of around £12 million on Silva, after paying an initial £35.6 million in 2020.

But the loss could have been so much bigger, and this sale of £23 million could now really help Wolves in the final days of the transfer window.
