Leeds United failed to bounce back from the Arsenal defeat over the weekend. Daniel Farke’s side had the chance to get a huge win and boost confidence in the team ahead of this weekend.
Before the game, many expected the game to be a dominant win after Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen revealed he would be playing U21 players on the night. Leeds on the other hand, went with established first team players. Farke handed debuts to Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Noah Okafor on Tuesday night.

BBC Radio Leeds’ Jon Newsome mentioned the poor performances of some players during the game. He especially singled out two attackers at the club. Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson, who faced heavy criticism from fans last season, were under pressure again.
“He was just so negative wasn’t he [Aaronson]. Everytime the ball came out to him, his first touch was backwards. You’re playing against kids. Aaronson, Piroe – are they good enough for the Premier League?
“I’m not too sure they are. Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions and sometimes you have to offload people and bring people in. It’s never too late. It is a tough ask to happen in the next six days.
“But surely it is a decision they should have made sooner. In my opinion, Brenden Aaronson wasn’t good enough in the Championship, so he’s not going to be good enough for the Premier League,” he said.
Leeds might need to dip into the market this week
Tuesday night was yet another toothless showing in front of goal. Leeds have already made it a habit of missing these moments when it matters in games. It was part of the reason they failed to beat Sheffield Wednesday, and only narrowly beat Everton last week.
An attacker with a clinical edge is sorely needed at Elland Road soon.
